'They couldn't believe he was actually a real person' - Terrapins Insider »

Washington Post blog about Greivis Vasquez’s visit to a local elementary school just after winning ACC Player of the Year (before he knew he’d won). FABULOUS.

“Vasquez mentioned that he might not be able to stay for too long because the ACC player of the year was supposed to be announced soon and depending on the result, he might have to field a flurry of phone calls.

That comment reminded Pascucci of a text message her father had sent her shortly before Vasquez had arrived at the school. I don’t know if Greivis already came to your school, but make sure you congratulate him. He just got ACC player of the year.

“I was like, ‘Greivis, I think actually they already announced it. I think you got it. Congratulations,” Pascucci said. “He was like, ‘Oh my gosh, really?’ He got kind of choked up. He couldn’t believe it.”

And the kids couldn’t believe he was “a real person”

Trojans, Terps, Ravens, O's, and really hot athletes.

College football is my favorite but in the offseason, I'll settle for a Blake Griffin dunk or a hockey fight featuring Adam McQuaid.

Really, though, I'm just counting down until kickoff.
